Some say that cummins repaired them under warranty anytime before 500,000 miles(mine has 390,000), others say that cummins told em to go fly a kite. I have spent some time on the internet researching this situation and have seen several cases where the cause of this problem turns out to be dropped cylinder liners caused by to little liner protrusion when the engine was built. They have now told me i need a head gasket for the sum of 5900.00, and they warned me that there will probably be other hard parts that need replacing(cyl liners, bearings, etc). Take appropriate action to rectify the alarm condition or contact your nearest Cummins Distributor. gasket is probably leaking, do you notice anything coming out of the exhaust, and is the level of coolant decreasing 2010 Silverado 5. I have removed pump and replaced o ring, didnt help. I have isolated the leak to the connection between water pump and coolant filter housing/manifold on rh front side of engine. Check the instrument panel regularly for any alarm messages. Hi, I have a cummins isx 475 in an 06 kW t800 that only leaks coolant when the temperature is below freezing. It reaching 225 is not something to worry about Like damaging internal parts Technician: Nich1019 No, 230/235 is about the max. Check the oil pressure, coolant temperatures, DEF level, and other engine parameters daily via the OEM instrument panel or gauge cluster to make sure they are operational. In reviewing the PO service records it would appear that the Turbo Actuator has failed and been replaced twice (all replaced under warranty). 210-212 But it did reach up to about 220 close to 225. My engine brake was sticking and also surging so I replaced the turbo. Hey all - long time watcher, first time poster I have a 2017 Newmar Mountain Aire with the Cummins ISX15 engine. They pulled the egr cooler and pressure tested it and it passed, so they reinstalled the cooler. 08 3500 Anarchy tune, deleted, Reply Save Like D droyce Discussion Starter 3 Yes, I took the turbo off and it was the Oring on the actuator that was no good. I took the truck to the local cummins dealer and had them check it out, and they came back with a failed "exhaust in coolant" test, and claimed it would either be the egr cooler, or engine internals. They then replaced the turbo, turbo actuator, and coolant overflow tank and both radiator caps, to no avail. Peterbilt tested the headgasket(so they say), the egr cooler, and the air compressor, all checked o.k.(according to them). The truck runs fine, never overheats, no other issues, except it pushes coolant out of the overflow bottle on hard pulls. So i just bought this 2010KW with an ISX550 engine, and the peterbilt dealer where i bought it has been chasing a coolant loss problem for three weeks. Gooey EGR Valve coolant leaking into the EGR valve and mixes with the carbon residue creating a sticky and malfunctioning valve.
